Before You Submit

  • Remember to try the latest WIP build to see if the feature already exists.
  • Is it copy protection related? If so, report the issue here instead.
  • .NET Core 3.1 and .NET 5.0 have known limitations, so make sure that what you're asking for isn't already in another build.
  • Check previous issues to see if any of those are related to what you're about to ask for.

If none of those apply, then continue...

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
People are submitting dumps with outdated versions of MPF and also DIC. Important updates are occurring, fixing problems, but people either don't know or don't take the time to check, and thus use outdated software.

Describe the solution you'd like
If there is a way to compare the version of MPF that a user is using, to whatever the latest version is, and then popup a notification to the user sharing that their version is outdated and could result in improper dumps, that would be extremely helpful and would improve the currency of users and their dumps.

Describe alternatives you've considered
An alternative would be for us to make an important announcement or notification periodically to dumpers, regarding updating their versions. We can certainly do this, but I believe the best way to reach users (after implementation of course), is a check like this.

Additional context
Please refer to the discord conversation we had regarding the issue with PS2 unlicensed, and people dumping with outdated builds.
