Additional information
I am trying to extract subtitles from recordings of Danish DR I have done using an Elgato EyeTV Diversity USB tuner on a Mac. The recordings are TS streams, subtitles are available if I use VLC but I keep getting an error when I try to extract the subtitles and end up with an empty SRT file. This is the result I get when I run ccextractor from master (commit
84a9ea5572from Dec 28) with OCR on a Mac running macOS 10.12.6Not sure whether I am holding this thing wrong or if it is an actual error.
Update Jan 21st 2018
A new file has been uploaded at http://www.filedropper.com/dr3clip1.
@peterhaldbaek commented on GitHub (Jan 2, 2018):
Just tried running against the very latest commit (
377dc2a48d) and getting same results.@peterhaldbaek commented on GitHub (Jan 2, 2018):
ffprobe reveals this information
It is the DVB subtitles of program 101 I am trying to extract.
@MatejMecka commented on GitHub (Jan 3, 2018):
I just tested your sample against CCExtractor and got this
There are large gaps during processing interesting :) Might be because I didn't run it with OCR but still something more.
Tested on: Mac Os X High Sierra.
@peterhaldbaek commented on GitHub (Jan 3, 2018):
I just tried running without OCR and got the same result as you. I believe I experienced this initially and thought I had to run it with OCR to make it work but something still seems off.
@MatejMecka commented on GitHub (Jan 3, 2018):
Ok so when I ran ccextractor without the arguments passed I got a file with around 290 bytes. I'm going to attach it in this comment. When I ran with yours I got an empty file
dr1_narrow_margin.txt
@peterhaldbaek commented on GitHub (Jan 3, 2018):
That is the teletext captions of another program unfortunately.
@MatejMecka commented on GitHub (Jan 3, 2018):
CCExtractor seems to skip some packets not finding payloads and there is a broken PES. I guess the Broken PES seems to cause the empty subtitles.
@MatejMecka commented on GitHub (Jan 3, 2018):
i used -pesheaders to debug and see the contents more useful information
@Souravirus commented on GitHub (Jan 21, 2018):
Can I have the video file again? The link seems to be broken
@peterhaldbaek commented on GitHub (Jan 21, 2018):
Sure. I just found out that the file I originally uploaded did not have subtitles in VLC either. Seems like the initial recording I do with EyeTV stores the subtitles in a way that at least VLC understands but if I do any cutting of the file afterwards something changes. I will create a new file without the cutting and upload that.
@Souravirus commented on GitHub (Jan 21, 2018):
okk @peterhaldbaek
@peterhaldbaek commented on GitHub (Jan 21, 2018):
New file: http://www.filedropper.com/dr3clip1
I want to extract the DVB subtitles of program 2030.
ffprobe gives me this
Maybe the stream produced by EyeTV is just a mess, I don't know but it would be pretty sweet if it could be extracted. VLC is able to somehow.
@cfsmp3 commented on GitHub (Nov 3, 2018):
Closing, link not working.
@peterhaldbaek commented on GitHub (Nov 3, 2018):
I can upload the file again if necessary? @cfsmp3
@saurabhshri commented on GitHub (Nov 3, 2018):
@peterhaldbaek Yes, please do and re-open the issue. :) Thank you!
@peterhaldbaek commented on GitHub (Nov 4, 2018):
Sweet! File available again at http://www.filedropper.com/dr3clip1. I do not seem to be able to re-open the issue so I guess you need to do this @saurabhshri
@saurabhshri commented on GitHub (Nov 15, 2018):
@cfsmp3 Please re-open this. :)
@saurabhshri commented on GitHub (Nov 15, 2018):
Uploaded the same on Sample Platform (in case the link goes dead again) : https://sampleplatform.ccextractor.org/sample/154
@cfsmp3 commented on GitHub (Jan 25, 2020):
@peterhaldbaek Is this still an issue in current master?
@peterhaldbaek commented on GitHub (Feb 7, 2020):
I have not tested it out but I can give it a go.
@cfsmp3 commented on GitHub (Mar 22, 2023):
@peterhaldbaek Feel free to reopen if needed.
