First method

  1. Go to a folder in Explorer

Expected Behavior

Windows Terminal opening regularly in the foreground, above other running apps

Actual Behavior

Windows Terminal opens in background when it's set as default terminal app and is run from Visual Studio or from explorer

This issue was fixed in https://github.com/microsoft/terminal/pull/10217 and the next preview version will contain this fix. 🙂

Just to elaborate.. I'm running win 11 - Version 10.0.22449 Build 22449
I use a shortcut key app called Executor to run the following command:

wt -p "Ubuntu"

It was working when I initially started using win 11 over a week ago, but lately it just opens in the background since I got my last big update.

I think you're seeing a bug we're calling MSFT-35378923 (sorry, you almost certainly won't be able to see it) where the window manager doesn't give us foreground priority because of how we're launched.

It should be fixed in public pretty soon.
