Like the new side tabs in Edge, it would be great to have the option to show the tabs on the (left) side of the window rather than at the top. Again, like Edge, it should be an option rather than a forced change since some will continue to prefer the classic top tabs.

Side tabs would allow for better tab name visibility, especially when the tabs start to increase in number. And who doesn't have a wide screen monitor these days with horizontal real estate to spare?

If this issue/suggestion already exists, please close this and provide a link to the existing issue. (I searched and could not find an existing issue, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.)
