As mentioned earlier, if the app alias points to one WindowsTerminal (release vs. Preview) and the "App Paths\wt.exe" key points to the other, then the "wt" alias doesn't work in various places. I ran into that today after installing both Windows Terminal Preview 1.12.2931.0 and Windows Terminal 1.11.2921.0. The app alias pointed to the release version and the "App Paths\wt.exe" key pointed to the preview. It's interesting how it failed. Using the run dialog, I got the (expected) permissions dialog. Just typing WT after WinKey, I saw this (which did absolutely nothing).

[What's up with that?]

So I reinstalled the release version. But it didn't rewrite the "App Paths\wt.exe" data. Shouldn't a reinstall have rewritten that key's data?

And, do you have any control over the app alias mechanism? If you do, can't you make it change the "App Paths\wt.exe" data appropriately?

Could we just continue this discussion in #11098? I'm not totally sure this is a different issue...

Yes, certainly. From my point of view, it is the same issue. I just didn't feel like searching.
