Expected Behavior

A Shortcut user guide pop-up should appear on the Screen when users open Terminal app so that Users are aware about the shortcuts to access whole app features.

Actual Behavior

Inexperienced users will not be aware about the shortcuts defined to access app features when user open Terminal app.. Shortcuts are given on 'Action' tab inside Settings page and to reach settings page users have also use shortcut keys. Documentation link is also provided inside 'About' page which is also opened with the help of Shortcuts.
In addition to that inexperienced user will also not be able to know where they will find shortcuts, or they are only using Terminal window to execute commands as they are not aware about these features which are accessible using shortcuts.

I think we're planning on addressing this with (some variation of) #10213, but this seems like a common gap, right? For example, Edge, Teams, VsCode, Word, etc - none of these applications pop up a shortcut guide on first launch, right?

On my understanding Edge, Teams etc. apps most(all) features are accessible using tab/arrow keys (shortcuts are given as secondary option to access features) but here in Terminal as whole app is mostly based on shortcuts keys so current UX is not good especially for PWD users.

PS: This Feedback is given by one of our team Screen Reader user (People with Blindness).

ideas:

  • add an invisible control to the UIA tree to inform users what the shortcut for the command palette is
