We're currently not planning to make any changes for cmd.exe, outside of bug fixes (see here). I personally use clink as well for this reason. It's great! But because of this, I'm unfortunately forced to decline this feature request at the moment. 😓

We did have a similar feature request recently though, which resulted in a related idea: https://github.com/microsoft/terminal/issues/14779#issuecomment-1415728348
