  • The very dark tab does not look like the window contents, as the tab is much darker. So the dark tab does not look like it is active.

  • The light tab matches the window contents, and looks as if it is active as a result.

In reality, the dark tab that contrasts starkly with the window is active.

Steps to reproduce

Two tabs, default theme (I think). Edit: acrylic enabled too.

Expected Behavior

For the correct tab to appear active. I don't want to prescribe a solution here as different terminals do this different and the terminal team can think of something.

A different tabs appears active. I often close the wrong tab by mistake.

Could you share your settings.json file/?

The default dark theme on 1.16 and 1.17 should be a "seamless" theme, with theme.tab.background set to terminalBackground, though that doesn't always have the intended effect with an acrylic terminal background. Just by lookin at the pixels on that screenshot, wither that's the worst jpeg'ing I've ever seen, or you are using acrylic

Sure. This is why I'm not sure re: theme, I've been using Terminal for a while and there may be some...accumulation.

Oh and yes I'm using acrylic. Because it looks cool.

Ah yep, this is most definitely /dup #14833.

If you'd like, feel free to adjust your theme https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/terminal/customize-settings/themes to set the tab colors to whatever you want1
