Windows Terminal version

1.22.11141.0

Windows build number

10.0.26100.4202

Other Software

WSL 2.0
Debian

Steps to reproduce

No idea what caused this and I've never seen this before, not able to reproduce. After terminating the process using Task Manager, the app behaved normally after relaunching. I hadn't installed any updates that had pending a restart.

Expected Behavior

  • Closing the last tab should close the window
  • Clicking the close button (with open tabs) should close the window

Actual Behavior

  • When I close the last tab, the tab itself disappears, but the window and content stays open and I can still interact with it.
  • When I click the window close button, nothing happens.

Hello, I'm interested in working on this. Is this issue open to new contributors? Any guidance or starting point would be appreciated!

You know, we've seen various versions of this throughout the years but never gotten a good repro. There's something not great in our window teardown path that may result in us giving up on the Close event handler.

However, in 1.23 we broadly rewrote how windowing works. I'm hoping that it fixes this forever. 🤞🏻

Let us know if you experience it again! And if you do, would you mind grabbing a dump of WindowsTerminal.exe?
