I saw previews comments posted in 2022 that windows terminal can only be installed for user scope and NOT system scope. Has there been update to the latest version and can it be installed for system scope.

Background: I work foe the DoD Cyber Forensic Laboratory which is ANAB certified and is required to establish a forensic clean reference build. Between each examination, the internal OS drive is forensic wiped/secured erased and restored with the reference build to an air gaped network, therefore, installing form the microsoft store is not an option, We have more 50 examiners in the lab who all require the use of terminal in the scope of the examination.

Thank You,

Tom W

Thanks for reaching out! I believe the best way to provision Terminal for an entire system is to download the preinstallation kit from our release artifacts and install it using Add-AppxProvisionedPackage.

Unfortunately, even on modern Windows, packages are still registered per-user.

We have a couple newer distribution types that you may find more suitable for systemwide deployment; however, they do come with some downsides.
