Windows Terminal version

1.22.12111.0

Windows build number

10.0.26100.0

Other Software

After closing windows terminal, icons stay at taskbar.
Clicking on Windows menu item does not do anything.
App stays in memory for a long time, need to terminate WindowsTerminal processes on taskmanager to make them disappear.

Image

Steps to reproduce

Open multiple terminal session in one or more windows, close all windows.
Click on taskbar, there is an icon for each window that was open, that when clicked nothing happens.

Expected Behavior

WindowsTerminal processes terminating after closing all terminal instances using terminal window [x] close button.

Actual Behavior

Strangely enough, when reopening it always opens an extra powershell window next to another where it restores my previous session in a single window with different instances, one pwsh, one cmd, 3 wsl related sessions.

Image

I usually close the extra pwsh window and keep one open with the multiple sessions on it.
But the icons stay on in the taskbar area, and also when I close the multi session window.

Hmm. We're rolling out version 1.23 which contains an overhauled windowing system. Would you be able to re-test this issue over there/?

i'll do my best, it's not consistent but it happens from time to time.

Similar thing is happening to me. Currently running 1.23.12681.0.

Open Windows Terminal, close the window. I am left with the taskbar icon with the "active" underline. Clicking on it does nothing. Hovering over it shows a phantom window with the title DesktopWindowXamlSource. Task Manager shows Terminal is still running with this child process/window. I have to right-click > close window in the taskbar icon for it to go away. If I manually type 'exit' on the commaand line to close the session, Task Manager shows a PowerShell child process under the Terminal app instead of DesktopWindowXamlSource.
