Summary of the new feature/enhancement

Show tab number in tab. As we have hotkey alt+number to switch between tabs, it would be nice if we can see in advance the tab number displayed in the tab bar. #1147 asked for panes number inside a tab. This request is for the tab number.

Proposed technical implementation details (optional)

Show the tab number in tab before the tab icon.

Is it intended to show the number the whole time or could there be a way to show the number only while holding alt? Mabe like a oerlay?

I'd like it if they showed up when you hold Alt. Needs some UI design. @cinnamon-msft mind taking a crack at the art here?

I also believe it should pop only as you press the alt, as otherwise it's not really relevant information.

The question is whether it should cause a toolbar repaint/redraw (since the tab will suddenly contain more text)? I think it would be best to avoid this flickering. For instance, it could appear over something. Question is over what? Icon, title, close button - all of these are pretty important 😀

Also it would be wonderful if there is an opt-out for that, as personally as a keyboard-oriented user I didn't really need this feature (got here just by browsing the issues 😉).
