I used ConEmu for years and I don't know how this Windows Terminal is different from what ConEmu does.

Can anyone clarify? 🤔

...? Competition is good. Having multiple good terminal emulators on Windows is a good thing. It does what ConEmu does, but it's written by the same team that has been working on the original Windows console for five years.

Yes, of course competition is good, but usually you start developing an alternative product, because it has additional capabilities that the other one didn't have. Maybe I'll have to wait for this to mature to see its advantages over ConEmu. 😉

@itmuckel ConEmu is a great Terminal and provides a superset of features, many of which Windows Console will never ship because our goals for Windows Console differ from those of Maximus5/ConEmu.

Windows Terminal aims to provide a powerful, safe, flexible, modular, modern Terminal implementation that shares several components with the in-box Windows Console, and which will provide a Terminal control implementation that will be re-usable by other applications that want to embed Terminal UX & capabilities within their own apps.

We're taking a different approach to Maximus5, and that's fine because there's plenty of room to create and use differentiated products that provide different values to different audiences.
