For users who are concerned about having exact matches to submit or verify against Redump, **DiscImageCreator** is currently the default option. None of the other supported dumping tools can produce the full array of outputs that are used by Redump submissions. This is considered the standard for the Redump project which will likely not change anytime soon.

**Redumper** is an up-and-coming, optical-disc focused dumping program created specifically for Redump. Written in C++, it is natively cross-platform including builds for Windows, OSX, and Linux. For CDs, a specific set of drives are required due to the requirements from Redump. Please see [Optical Disc Drive Compatibility](http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title=DiscImageCreator:_Optical_Disc_Drive_Compatibility) for more details. Development is rolling, creating builds for each set of commits introduced.
By default, **DiscImageCreator** rips media to one of a couple of formats. CD-based media will be ripped to a split `BIN/CUE` format, such that every track has its own file. DVD-based and BD-based media will be ripped to a standard `ISO` format. Also by default, media rips will include a small number of additional files representing various pieces of information about the image, the dumping process, and the original hardware. Most required data is found in the unified `.log` file.
